The Bakersfield College Art Department has revised its Survey of World Art (art history) series.
You now can complete the art history sequence in two semesters.
Four-year universities and colleges usually require a year of art history survey for all Art majors - these courses are equivalent.
It does not matter what order you take these courses.
Every Fall semester the department will offer: Art B35 Survey of World Art I
- This course is a historical survey of the architecture and visual arts beginning in the Paleolithic age (30,000 BC) and continuing through Medieval Europe (1400CE); includes Near Eastern, Egyptian and European traditions. Recommended: Reading Level 5 or 6. Hours: 54 lect. Offered: F, CCS: Liberal Arts & Sciences. Transferable: UC, CSU and private colleges. Art 35 =CAN ART 2; ART B35 and B36 = CAN ART SEQ A; BC GE C; CSU GE C.1; IGETC 3.A.
Every Spring semester the department will offer: ART B36 Survey of World Art II
- This course is a historical survey of the architecture and visual arts from 1400CE to the present day including non-western cultures. Reading Level 5 or 6. Hours: 54 lect. Offered: S, CCS: Liberal Arts & Sciences. Transferable: UC, CSU and private colleges. Art 36 =CAN ART 4; ART B35 and B36 = CAN ART SEQ A; BC GE C; CSU GE C.1; IGETC 3.A.
