ART B24 Digital Imaging (3 units) Concepts and techniques of digital image processing. Image creation, scanning, editing, compositing, re-touching, and problem solving using bit-mapped, rastor based software. Emphasis on projects using a variety of methods to manipulate and process images. Color systems and output options to various media will be considered. Specific design problems will be presented as the vehicle for understanding. Processes such as painting, masking, layering, color correcting, separating, and effects filtering will be introduced. ART B25 Typography (3 units) The role and application of typography in visual communication. A study in the evolution of letterforms to the digital type styles of today.
