Bryan Buckey is Deaf and a native of Bakersfield, California. After graduating from Highland High School, he moved to attend the  University of Alaska at Fairbanks where he graduated cum laude with a bachelor's of science degree in petroleum engineering.  After a brief stint in the petroleum industry, Bryan decided to return to his deaf roots and moved to the San Fernando Valley, where he entered California State University at Northridge. There he earned a master's degree in Deaf education. 

After graduation he worked as as substitute teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District.  One summer he accepted an invitation to the National Theatre of the Deaf in Chester, Connecticut.  At the end of theatre school, NTD chose him for the role of Ichabod Crane in The Legends of Sleepy Hollow.  Upon returning to Los Angeles he performed with Deaf West Theatre in A Streetcar Named Desire, and Oliver, Deaf West's first-ever musical. 

Currently Bryan resides in Bakersfield and works for the Kern High School District working with special needs Deaf adults. He is also an adjunct instructor, teaching ASL in the Bakersfield College Foreign Languages Department. In his off time, Bryan rides motorcycles, plays darts, and enjoys spending time with his friends and family.
