Cindee Bart

Cindee Bart has been teaching in the American Sign Language Program at Bakersfield College since 1998. Cindee is not only a native of Bakersfield, she is also a native of Bakersfield's Deaf community. Her parents, Stuart and Ruth Bart--both of whom were Deaf--raised Cindee signing ASL and attending the Bakersfield Club of the Deaf where her father was president for many years. Cindee has several other Deaf family members, some of whom teach at the California School for the Deaf in Fremont.

In addition to her teaching duties, Cindee is also an instructional assistant in the ASL Lab where students visit to view videotapes or receive one-to-one assistance. Cindee also serves as faculty advisor for the Bakersfield College Deaf Renegades. Cindee was the club's advisor during their successful, historic bid to win their campaign to elect Stacy Segeberg and Mario Grihalva homecoming queen and king in 2002.

Outside of her instructional duties at BC, Cindee is a freelance American Sign Language interpreter, certified by the NAD. She is a member of the Bakersfield Club of the Deaf and Quota Club International of Bakersfield. She is also the proud mother of Connor, a student at Garces High School.
