The
history of Bakersfield College is replete with the rich interrelationships
of students, teachers, alumni and supportive community members.
It’s a history of our community, of our lives in the last
90 years, of our aspirations and our hopes. BC’s history
is a compelling story that must be preserved for future generations. For
that reason, I approached Dr. John Collins and Robert Allison,
former BC presidents, to form an archives committee. Today, [under
the co-direction of retired history professor, Dr. Greg Goodwin
and retired Learning Center Professor Jerry Ludeke], the Bakersfield
College Archives is collecting, cataloging and sharing the history
of the college since its inception in 1913. Your contribution of
time and financial resources will help us save and celebrate this
wonderful history that is a continuous thread in the fabric of Kern
County.
