GETTING STARTED - Step 3: Assessment

  • Assessment is required of all first-time college students to determine placement levels in reading, math and English. How to prepare for the assessment test.
  • Special assessment accommodations can be provided for persons with disabilities, call 395-4334 for more information.
  • Students whose first language is not English are encouraged to take English as a Second Language (ESL) assessment; please telephone ESL office at 661-395-4479 to make a testing appointment.
  • Transfer Students: Students transferring from another college who have taken English and math courses may not have to take assessment. Please bring your transcripts to the counseling office for English and math placement.
  • High school seniors: High school transcripts assist counselors with your placement, so bring a copy with you when you visit the counseling office for the first time.
