Donna Tracy is a cross discipline fine artist working in the mediums of photography, painting, sculpture, video installation, and digital media. She has a career as special effects artist that spans over 20 years experience in the entertainment industry where she has worked as a designer, art director, compositor, animator and painter on such films as Star Wars, Altered States, Total Recall, Terminator 2, Independence Day, Harry Potter, and Spiderman. She is unique in her skills and experience having worked extensively with traditional techniques in her art and special effects productions before she found herself on the digital wave that swept the landscape and changed the way we make art and films. Her skills as a special effects artist have been sought after around the world from companies in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Turkey, Hong Kong, South America, and South Africa. Currently, she is an assistant professor for Chaffey College where she teaches Multimedia and Digital Imaging in the Art Department. She and her family are from Los Angeles where she continues to live. Her higher education began at El Camino College and continued through to UCLA where she received her undergraduate degree and to California Institute of the Arts where she received her graduate degree in 1995. She has exhibited locally and nationally. Recently, she presented a paper at the College Arts Association called, "Virtual Species or Digital Waste: Ownership in the Information Age," that will be published in the May/June issue of Afterimage. | |||||||
