Art B20 - Introduction to Digital Arts
Project 2 - Rhythm, Line, Direction

Using one of the fours songs and templates I provide, create a CD "single" cover in black and white. It must include the element of line, and the principles of rhythm and direction.

The composition must convey a sense of rhythm, suggest a direction, and use line.

Consider using geometric shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle - especially if you are not yet comfortable with the Illustrator tools).

Draw, doodle, sketch first - before going to the computer. I want to see working drawings. Refine, refine, refine. Consider the use of a grid.

I will supply you with four templates with the name of the song and the artist. Use this "as is". Use the area without the text to place your design.

Definitions

Rhythm - Intentional, regular repetition of lines or shapes to achieve a specific effect or pattern.

Line - The recording of the movement of a point in space over time. An element of design which can vary in width, length, curvature, color and direction.

Direction - An authoritative indication; an order or command. A position to which motion or another position is referred. A line leading to a place or point. The line or course along which a person or thing moves.
