Choose a social cause and design an effective black and white display ad. You might consider a non-profit organization (Bike Bakersfield, The Kern County Library, etc…) or an issue (smoking, global warming, texing and driving, etc…) The ad will be 5.75 inches wide and 10.5 inches deep. (In the newspaper business, this would be considered a 1/4 page ad.) Limit yourself to black and white, but consider using black and white photography. You must research the organization, and write two or three paragraphs to briefly explain the social issue, and discuss how you will approach the ad. You will mount the final solution on a 10" x 15" board. Take a look at these ads. Notice that they use humor, irony, clever language, historical images, fascinating photography, etc... to get their messages across. The approach matches the audience in language, image, color and typefaces. Here are some local non-profit groups you might consider using: Bike Bakersfield - this ad will encourage citizens to use a bike for transportation instead of driving a vehicle. The Bakersfield Homeless Center - this ad will encourage donations to the shelter. Click here for the website. The Bakersfield College Foundation - this ad will encourage donations to the Foundation for scholarships, and for improvement of teaching and learning. Click here for the website | Links | |||
