Art B25 - Typography
Soup Can Poster

Ingredients

1 Soup Can (label intact)

1 enthusiastic digital arts Typography student

Digital software as needed

Laser printer

Recipe
Start by creating a grid for your type on a tabloid sized page. Vertical or horizontal, either will work. Remove every bit of text from the label and transfer it to a word processing program (we have MS Word on the lab machines). This will involve a great deal typing

Suggestions/Objective
Take the type from a can of ordinary soup, and make it into a beautiful, contemporary, strongly designed poster. I would suggest using Adobe Illustrator or for variety, try Photoshop or InDesign. Throw in a bit of color for spice.

Things to think about…

What color exists on the can label?

Think variety.

Think emphasis.

What can this type say?

How can it say it?

All the text MUST be used AT LEAST ONCE on your poster.

Use the colors from the can as needed.

The result will be one 10 x 16 inch poster, ready for consumption.
