Extra Credit Paper:

Directions: Answer each of the following questions about Dante James' series, Slavery and the Making of America (on PBS Feb 9th and 16th at 9:00 PM).

Part One: Summarize two hours of the show (either one night or two parts of the series).  This summary may include brief quotes, but it should cover each major argument, anecdote, or section of your two hours.  Even if you've watched all four parts, you should only summarize two parts for the sake of brevity.

Part Two: Consider one of the following question:  A) Does the series do what it claims to do by redefining slaves as "pro-active freedom fighters not passive victims," or does it fall short of this goal?  What could be done to make this point stronger, or was it made strong enough?  B) In what ways did this series show you parts of slavery you were unaware of?  Give specific examples of events you did not know about or details you'd never been taught.  Conversely, did this show simply gloss over events you already knew a great deal about?
