Fast Food

In this world there are many different types of food. One type is fast food. Do people know what fast food is? Have people ever thought about the consequences that fast food can bring to their health? In the book American Now, student essayist Durbin says that “Fast Food is Fat Food.” However, some solutions exist that can be implemented to improve health. Fast food and metabolism can negatively impact people's lives, but there are healthy alternatives.

Generally speaking, fast food is any type of food that can be acquired quickly and cheaply. For example, vending machines, drive-thru restaurants, and 24 hour convenience stores are some places where it can be acquired. Fast food restaurants are easy to locate because they are on almost every corner. However, fast food is usually made with cheaper ingredients instead of nutritious ones such as lean meats, fresh fruits, and vegetables. For this reason fast food is fat food.

Following this further, eating too much fast food over a long period of time, can lead people to suffer from health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity. In fact, fast food and metabolism are connected with each other because some people are more prone to obesity than others. Two clear examples are my cousin Luis and my brother Oscar. Oscar's favorite food is fast food and he is thin. On the contrary, Luis always tries to eat healthy food and he is an obese person. This happens because of their type of metabolism. Nevertheless, if Luis starts eating fast food he will gain more weight and he will look fatter.

Unquestionably, there are some solutions that can help lead to a healthier life and stop the expression “Fast Food is Fat Food.” One solution is eating fast food less often. Cooking at home is the best way to improve health because the food is cooked with more nutritious ingredients and has fewer calories. However, for some people it is difficult to cook, either because they do not like to cook or they do not know how to cook. For these people there are several recommendations they can think about. For example, choosing water, low-fat milk, diet sodas or fruit drinks. Another suggestion is having salad or soup instead of fries and trying to add fruits or vegetables to meals. Making healthy decisions leads to a healthier life.

In conclusion, the expression “Fast Food is Fat Food” is true because it has a catastrophic influence on people's health. Because of all cheaper ingredients fast food places use to cook their food, people get fat and sick. People have to improve their own health in the way that they eat. The best way to be healthy is cooking at home and being careful about how metabolism acts with food.
