Community Partnerships & Service Learning was established in 2000 in response to a CSU system-wide resolution calling for an increase in community service participation of students enrolled in higher education.

CPSL is responsible for: establishing partnerships with companies, agencies, and organizations for the purpose of placing students as volunteers and/or interns; matching students with organizations that best fit their major area of study and monitoring the students’ progress throughout the experience; assisting faculty with developing service learning experiences that will act to enhance the learning of specific subject matter; and acting as a liaison between community organizations, students, faculty, and CSUB in order that the experiences gained through service to the community or through internships are rewarding and advantageous to all concerned.

It is our goal to create and enhance the relationship between the university, our community partners, students, and faculty. Together we can create an environment that will act to increase professional and marketable skills of our students and increase awareness of civic involvement and responsibility.
