Degrees and Certificates
Child Development Programs of Study
The
Child Development Instructional Program is designed to train students to
work in a variety of early childhood settings. The two-year program
includes an AS degree in Child Development and Family Relations, which
serves students desiring an early childhood background, supervised student
teaching experience/practicum and fulfillment of academic requirements for a
Child Development Teacher Permit. The
BC Child
Development Center serves as a practicum laboratory and offers a
learning rich environment for those in the program to both observe children
and to gain hands-on experience working with children. The courses
offered fulfill the academic requirements for the Child Development Teacher
credential offered by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
The majority of students enrolled in the Child Development classes are
interested in employment or have already been employed in child development
positions.
An
unofficial college class transcript is required at the time a certificate
application is submitted.
