Director of the Public Safety Training Programs at Bakersfield College, Bakersfield California.
Bakersfield College Public Safety Programs include: The Basic POST Law Enforcement Academy, in partnership with the Bakersfield Police Department, Fire Technology Programs, pre-service and in-service training, Corrections Academy / programs as well as the Industrial Security Academy and the unarmed and armed security guard programs / certifications.


Professional Career:

U. S. Army Military Police Officer serving in West Berlin and West Germany. In 1978 he became a Peace Officer in the State of California. Since that time he has been employed as a Deputy Sheriff with the County of Santa Barbara. His assignments included: Jail, Court, Patrol, Field Training Officer, Detective specializing in death investigations, Team leader for the North County SCUBA Dive and Recovery Team and member of SWAT assigned as the entry team leader. During his seven year tenure with the Sheriffs Department, he received the Meritorious Service Award as well as the Medal for Valor.  In 1985 he became employed as a Police Officer with the Santa Maria Police Department.  During his nine year tenure with Santa Maria, his assignments included: Patrol, Field Training Officer, SWAT, Gang Suppression detail and the Traffic Bureau, where he was assigned as a Motorcycle officer. During his twenty years in law enforcement, he has provided training to numerous officers and students in the advancement of their careers.  He currently possesses a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management  with an emphasis on training and career development and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with an emphasis on counseling and training, both from Chapman University. He has a Life time Community College Service Instructional Certificate and has obtained several POST advanced certifications.  Since 1982 he has been an instructor with Allan Hancock Community College, Santa Maria California, providing instruction, career development in law enforcement academy training;  a Recruit Training Officer contributing to the evaluation, career and personal development of the students; and Associate faculty member in the Administration of Justice degree program, providing career and academic guidance to those enrolled in college course work. By virtue of his advanced work experience in law enforcement he has, on several occasions, had the honor of providing Presidential and Executive Security Protection for President Ronald Reagan, Vice President Dan Quail and the Queen of England.
