BC Financial Aid and Scholarships

Be sure to visit the Financial Aid website for important announcements about Grants and Scholarships. Also, remember to apply for FAFSA for the 2016-2017 Academic Year. Onlinecolleges.net has a helpful guide to the FAFSA that could be useful to you.

PG&E Better Together Scholarships

High school seniors, current college students, veterans and adults pursuing an degree in a Science, Technoloby, Engineering, or Math field within PG&E service territory are encouraged to apply for the Better Together Scholarships by . Awards range from $2,000 to $20,000.

DREAM ACT

Job Placement

Study Skills, Aid & Services

Bakersfield College provides resources and support for students. The following are some resources available to you, as a BC student, for improving your education. Make the most of your time at college by utilizing some of these resources.

Habits of Mind

This site is home of the Bakersfield College Habits of Mind Initiative. The Habits of Mind site includes information about the initiative and resources for students. "It's POSSIBLE at Bakersfield College!"

Writing Center

Help is available for any writing project. Visit the Writing Center in Student Services Building Room 113 or visit one of their web sites, www.bakersfieldcollege.edu/writing-center or bakersfieldcollegewritingcenter.weebly.com , for more information.

Tutoring Center

If you are struggling with a subject, there is help to make you successful. BC has a center specifically for tutoring. For information visit them at their location, SS‐203 or visit the BC Tutoring site for more information.

The Jerry Ludeke Learning Center

The Jerry Ludeke Learning Center, located in the Student Services Building, offers classes, study‐skills courses, basic skills computer lab, proofreading services and workshops for students. Critical Academic Skills (CAS) Workshops are free at the Main and Delano campuses and teach math, attacking word problems, test taking strategies, and all that jazz. Veterans Club

A great resource and support for veterans attending Bakersfield college. Visit the BC Veterans Club web site for more information and meeting times.

Disabled Student Programs & Services (DSPS)

DSPS has centers at both the Main Campus, in the Student Services Building, and at the Delano Center. For information visit the DSPS web site or call (661) 395‐4334 (V/TTY) for the main campus or (661) 720‐2000 for the Delano Center.

Child Development Center

The BC Child Development Center offers child care for ages 2 to 5 years old and has a Preschool Program for children ages 3 to 5 years old. For details and application visit BC Child Development Center site or call (661) 395‐4369.

Mental Health Services

Mental health services are available for BC Students on the Main Campus in the Student Health Center. See the Student Health Wellness site for office hours or contact the Student Health Center for more information and appointments at (661) 395‐4336.
