Bakersfield College Seal   The Personal Touch
 Crater Lake Oregon

I moved to Bakersfield and B.C. in the summer of 2005, but am not new to college instruction. After earning my M.A. from U.C. Riverside I began working with college students to explain the past and present in a variety of courses, and have been doing so for over a decade. I look forward to aiding Bakersfield College's students to understand history at every opportunity, and I hope to inspire a few of you to pursue a deeper understanding of history in your future.

My Vitae includes experience teaching United States History, Western Civilizations, World Civilizations, Humanities [cultural history of western societies], 19th Century European History, 20th Century European History, History of England, History of Japan and History of Latin America. This list is in descending order from most often to least often taught courses. At B.C. I look forward to concentrating on the United States History and World Civilizations courses, but who knows what the future will bring!

I do have a life outside of education, but not much of one. Maybe I was doomed from the start. In third grade I knew I was going to be one of three things: a stuntman, a jet pilot, or a history professor. I've gotten tired of injuries and, despite 2 nominations, the U.S.N.A. said 'no' both times. So I went with my first intellectual love: History.

If you don't find me at a book store, you may find me hiking or mountain biking in the hills, or riding my motorcycle around town. Please don't be the fourth person to hit me [on my bicycle, you would only be the second on my motorcycle]. I don't need any more of that attention. If you want to ask me a question don't run me off the road: just stop by my office during my office hours some time. I'm happy to help anyone I can.
