Grading Criteria

Midterm Exams, 3 @ 100 Points Each

Specific topics (multiple choice, true-false)

Final Exam 1 @ 200 Points

The final is mandatory. It will emphasize the chapters covered since Midterm 3, but will also be comprehensive (same format as midterms).

Quizzes 9 @ 10 Points Each

Each will cover the previous weeks topic (fill in, true-false). There will be no quiz when an exam is scheduled.

Research Paper 1 @ 200 Points

A paper on your choice of geologic topics, 10 Pages total, double-spaced, typed, with at least 5 references cited in the text and listed in a References Cited section.

Field Trip 1 @ 200 Points

Location and date to be announced. You will have to provide transportation. The trip will be on a Saturday.

Total Points 990 Points

Your grade will be based on the percentage of the total points you earn.

ATTENDANCE

Roll will be taken at each class meeting.
Adds and Drops are your responsibility.

Any arrangements necessary for special accommodations are your responsibility (please contact Supportive Services in FACE 16 or at 395-4334 ASAP to ensure timely accommodation).

Make up quizzes and tests can be taken by prior arrangement only. Make up quizzes and especially tests will only be given for what I judge to be valid reasons. Because my intent is to encourage regular attendance, relatively few "valid" reasons for missing a class will be allowed, and it is your responsibility to make these arrangements. If you anticipate an absence please let me know ahead of time.
