Minority Relations - 3
An examination of the relationships among dominant and minority groups, the nature of prejudice, and patterns of discrimination; the role of immigration in the creation of minority status; the role of religious difference in a pluralistic society; the relationship of minority status to economic standing; consideration on American Indians, black Americans, Chicanos, Chinese Americans, Japanese Americans, other Asian Americans, and Jewish Americans; consideration of women as an oppressed majority sharing characteristics with minorities; international problems of race, ethnicity, and poverty. Recommended: SOCI B1, Reading Level 5 or 6, English Level 5. Hours: 54 lect. Offered: F, S, SS. CCS: Liberal Arts & Sciences. Transferable: UC, CSU and private colleges.
